Since growing up in a family that owned a construction business, Shelby has been involved in formulating solutions for challenges in the design of the built environment. “My family was always looking to me to come up with new ideas for projects,” she says. Her ESG colleagues in multifamily housing do the same.
A graduate of North Dakota State University, Shelby designed residential, education, healthcare, and government projects before joining ESG. Her past experiences with drafting and design, and client and city council meetings, help her bring big-picture experience to her work at ESG. Designing multifamily housing is particularly intriguing as Shelby loves to renovate older homes for more efficiencies. “I’m always evaluating what works and what doesn’t,” she says, “and how I’d design a project if I lived there.”
Shelby pays close attention to location, in order to design a distinctive project in which both client and residents can be proud. She establishes ongoing relationships with clients in order to refine details from past projects. Her work also incorporates sustainable design strategies that provide savings over time. Throughout the design and construction processes, Shelby makes sure every interest is met and goal exceeded.
